From Summer to Fall Fashion: Statement Jacket

Statement Jacket

Hello my KMD lovelies!

I hope you enjoyed the first post in the series.  The next look for this Summer to Fall Collaboration Series is a Statement Jacket look.  Don’t forget to check out my lovely Memphis Blogger Babes post on this look as well, links are listed below!

I love me a good bold blazer for my work environment.  Finding one per season is hard enough let alone finding one that can be used as a transitional piece in between seasons.  I have many blazers for each season, so the trick is to incorporate it in between the seasons.  Since it’s still boiling hot in Memphis, dresses, skirts and shorts are still being worn.  However, the one thing that I can do to keep with fall trends but stay cool in the 90-degree heat is change up the color of my wardrobe.

For this look, I used one of my favorite blazers that I own.  The royal blue color is a beautiful gem tone for the fall and it really pops whenever I wear it.  Since the blazer is such a show stopper, I like to tone is down with some neutral colors.  I paired it with a white structured skater dress, a pair of open toe booties (to keep me cool in this heat) and a statement royal blue necklace.

I know what you’re thinking:  White after Labor Day?  Well, who said you’re not allowed to wear white after Labor Day :).  Has anyone never heard of “Winter Whites”?  Also, why not break some conventional rules?  Rules are meant to broken. 🙂

The booties are one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe and I plan to keep them until they fall apart (quite literally).  I get tons of compliments for them in my work place.  They’re a block heel so it’s comfortable to walk around work rather than stiletto heels.

My royal blue statement necklace is a beautiful trendy piece.  It ties the whole look together and gives the white dress a little bit of jazz.
