Hello my KMD lovelies!
I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have a customized hair care product. I have very fine, thin, long and straight black hair which tangles very easily. Lots of products weigh it down so I have to be very careful with my hair product choices. I also color treatment my hair as well as use heat styling products which can damage my hair quite a bit. So, I’m always looking for volumizing and damage protection type of hair products. It’s hard to find all of those components in one hair products so you can guess that I have quite a few products for my hair.
When the Formulate team approached me to try out their customized shampoo and conditioner, I was so excited!
All the things I wanted for my hair would be in just two products: a shampoo and conditioner. This concept shocked me, so I was super intrigued to try out the products and learn the science behind them.
All I had to do was take a brief survey on their website regarding my hair texture, type, and how I maintain it. I also had the option to choose the scent of the product which was really exciting. Some people can be sensitive to certain scents so I was happy to see that it was included as an option when building the products.
Once my product came in, the Formulate team told me that it takes about two weeks (or longer) for the products to work. With that in mind, I started using the product as soon as I could. The first couple of weeks of using the product, I noticed that my hair was feeling really thick and oily. I had stopped using a lot of my additional hair products besides heat protectant spray and argon oil. I quickly realized that since I had selected an oily formula, that the extra oils from the argon oil was probably too much for my hair to handle. The next time I had washed my hair, I didn’t use argon oil afterwards and noticed an immediate difference. I still gave myself about another week for the my hair to settle without the use of the additional oil product.
Once I stopped using the argon oil, I noticed that my hair was much softer and voluminous then it was before. My color treated hair looks less brassy and the ends of my hair looked a lot healthier.
Overall, I’m starting to love this product simply for the fact that all I have to use is a shampoo and conditioner to maintain my hair care. Thanks Jamie! I usually use quite a few products to maintain my hair but I didn’t have to use anything additional with the Formulate Shampoo & Conditioner besides a heat protector spray. Also, yes, I loved that you could choose your scent and how strong you want it!
