5 Self-Care Beauty Tips When Bored

Hello my KMD lovelies!,

I did a poll on my IG stories with what type of content that you all wanted to see.  A lot you wanted to see more tips with what to do during our Stay at Home orders during this pandemic.  While some states in the U.S. are planning to open up soon, I thought I would post a little something because some states/countries are still on a lockdown until further notice.

So, you guys asked, and I answered!

I hope you all enjoy some of these self-care tips.  While self-care can be mental, physical, etc, I will be focusing on beauty self-care tips.  They’re easy to do yet will keep you occupied for a little bit before you go back to binging your next TV show.

Also, if you would like some more tips on what to do during the COVID-19 Safer at Home initiative, check out my previous post.

Note:  Just in case, you’re unaware of what is going on in the world and/or would like more information, head over to World Health Organization (WHO) or Center for Disease Control(CDC) for more information.

#1:  Face Masks

I love face masks!  I always use a face mask when I fold my laundry.  They’re usually supposed to be on for about 10-15 minutes (depending on the mask) so having it on while I fold my laundry is perfect for me!  It’s multi-tasking at it’s best.

I use a variety of face masks from charcoal to peel-off but my favorite are the Sephora Collection Clay Masks.  Since I have combination skin, these are great because you can mix and match them.  You can use one type of mask on a targeted area of your face while using another on a different area.  There are so many types that any skin type can find a mask in this brand.

Disclaimer:  Sephora did send me a sample of this mask last year to try out.  However, I loved the sample and bought the full size for myself.  All opinions are my own.

#2:  Hair Mask

In relation to face masks, hair masks work similarly.  They are thick and nourish your hair.  If you’re doing a nice long bath, having a hair mask in your hair while reading a book in the bath is a perfect way to give your hair a little extra love!

#3:  Body Scrub

I love to use a good body scrub on the days I work out.  Just like a face scrub, a body scrub goes in your pores and clears out all the build up.  I like to body scrub at least three times a week so this way my skin does not dry out as quickly.

 #4:  Blemishes care

Since a lot of us may not be able to visit our dermatologists (or are having remote visits), we’re not able to get our normal care for our skin.  I like to keep a few things at handy at home for when that occasional blemish comes up.  The Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Spot Treatment and Mario Badescu Drying Lotion are a couple of really good products for on-the-spot treatment that work for me.

Of course, consult your dermatologist before trying something new on your skin.

#5:  Sun care

While we’re not out and out as we normally are, we still need to care for those UV rays against our skin.  A lot of people are still taking daily walks, going to the grocery store and essential businesses.  So, if you’re one of those people, don’t forget to apply sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun for these upcoming warmer months.

Bonus Tip:  Hair fun!

Since we’re still stuck at home and don’t have to show up to the office, go ahead and be bold with your hair!  Color it the color you’ve always wanted (whether it’s a bright blue or a platinum blonde).  Don’t forget to use proper hair care items such as color care shampoo’s and conditioners.
