5 Tips for New Bloggers

Hello my KMD lovelies!,

I hope everyone is still doing well in quarantine.  The state I live in is planning to open up next week (in Phases) but I’ll still be keeping my distance.  So, with that being said, for those of you that still would like some things to do during this time- start a blog!  I’m not expert at teaching someone on how to be a blogger but I put together some tips that I’ve learned over the years.

Also, if you would like some more tips on what to do during the COVID-19 Safer at Home initiative, check out my previous post.

Note:  Just in case, you’re unaware of what is going on in the world and/or would like more information, head over to World Health Organization (WHO) or Center for Disease Control(CDC) for more information.

Tip #1:  Just Start It!

This tip may come as a no brainer, but I’ve had so many people in my personal life come to me and tell me that they would love to start to blog.  However, they say that they don’t have the time, or a good name, etc.  If you want to do something, then you will take the time to do it.  So go ahead and get started!

Tip #2:  Focus on a niche

Figuring out the niche (or industry) that you want to blog for is hard.  In fact, I struggled for it for quite a bit.  It’s not something that happens overnight but you can pick a niche and stick to it.  You can also change your niche, if it fits (like moving from fashion to lifestyle, etc).  Just make sure your audience follows you when if you change your nice.

Tip #3:  You will learn as you go

You won’t know the everything about blogging all at once.  In fact, you’ll mess up quite a bit (trust me, I did) but once you get the hang of things, it’ll be okay.

Tip #4:  Skills improve overtime

I follow some amazing bloggers who take some great pictures and post some great blog posts.  I was always comparing myself to them which is not the right thing to do.  But lately, I’ve learned to compare my current content/posts/pictures to the ones I had when I first started.  I have improved tremendously and you all have taken notice too.  Skills such as a great picture and good writing take time so don’t stress if it’s not all picture perfect on your first week or month of blogging.

Tip #5:  Network

Networking is done in every industry so naturally, it’s also done in the blogging community as well.  Find blogger events in your local city to meet other bloggers, connect with bloggers near you (just send them a message and meet for coffee), etc.  You’ll find that the more you connect in the community, the more you’ll want to spend your time creating new content.

Bonus Tip:  Have fun with it!

Remember that every big blogger who makes an income from this job started at 0.  So don’t stress, you’ll get there but have fun!  An audience wants to connect with someone who’s fun and enjoying what they do.

Well, there you go!  I hope these tips were helpful to you.  There’s still a lot more to blogging so, this was just scratching the surface.  Let me know in the comments below which one of these you have tried and/or if you would like to see more of these posts.
