Hello my KMD lovelies!
I’m finally back with some more Blogging Tips! I know you all love these tips, and they tend to be some of your favorite posts so here I am with another one of them. A few months ago, I asked in my stories, “what type of blogging tips you would like to see“. One of the suggestions was, how to build an engaged audience on Instagram (suggested by Amrit of SheWearsLove). A lot my blogger friends have complimented me on my high engagement on Instagram so, I’ll be sharing my top 5 tips on what I do so build an engaged audience on Instagram.
Ask Questions in your Captions
Most of your audiences come to your page to see what you have to offer. If you ask them a question, they feel as if they are building a friendship with you. Thus, they answer the question in order to further build the friendship.
Asking questions is a great way to build an engaged audience. Make sure your questions are meaningful and relate to your post/caption. Also, be unique with the question such as, “What’s your favorite Halloween costume so far?’ or “What’s your favorite part about the holiday season?”, etc. Asking more targeted questions (instead of “how are you?”) motivates your audience to answer the question.

Respond to comments
Whenever someone comments on your Instagram post, make sure to respond with a simple “Thank you”. Those two words go a long way when trying to build an engaged audience. People love it when they are being noticed, especially by their favorite blogger/content creator/influencer on Instagram.

Comment back
Yes, comment back! And no, I do not mean “respond to comments” like the above tip (or else this wouldn’t be a separate tip). If someone comments on your post on Instagram, follow the above tip as well as go to their page, and like/comment on their latest post. This simple gesture will go a long way. I have built a great relationship with some blogger friends by simply just supporting each other this way. This back and forth engagement will build an audience that will always like/comment on your posts.
Engage in Instagram Stories
This tip is more of a do as I say and not do as I do since, I’m still trying my best to work on this technique. Basically, make sure to post 2-3 engaging stories per week on Instagram. You can ask a question and answer back, post a poll or a quiz, etc. I feel like people love to engage on stories since it feels more personal to them. In addition, make sure to engage on others’ stories at least 2-3 times a day. This engagement goes both ways and will help you in the long run.
Be Strategic with Hashtags
Hashtags are a great way to get new people to come to your Instagram Page. But you also need to be strategic with how to post your Instagram hashtags. With Instagram’s constantly changing algorithm, it’s hard to keep up with what works and what doesn’t work. However, I’ll share what I do, and you can use the tips that seem fit for you.
Instagram lets you use up to 30 hashtags so make sure you use all 30. You should take all the opportunities possible to get you noticed. You should also try to have a formula for hashtags. For example, my hashtag formula is 5 local city hashtags/under 10k following, 5 broad hashtags with over 500k following (such as #christmas), 10 hashtags with under 500k following, 10 hashtags with under 100k followers.
Those are my tips for building an engaged audience on Instagram. Have you tried any of these tips? Let me know in the comments below!
