If you’re a creative person then you know that sometimes you have moments when your creativity just stops. Those moments are often referred to as creative rut or burnout. These are common feelings, and every creative goes through it including us bloggers (yes, we’re creatives in our way). However, many of us don’t know how to get out of a creative rut. That being said, I was in a creative rut a few months ago and tried the tactics, listed below, to help me get out of it.
Tip #1: Exercise
Exercising or any type of physical activity can help you come up with more creative ideas. Keeping your body healthy and active can help nourish your creative side. Now, I’m not a professional expert here but I do know that a healthy mind is a good mind. Sometimes, all you need is a little extra kick to keep your mind healthy.
Tip #2: Other Hobbies
Try a new hobby! It might sound crazy to think that trying another creative field might not be good. However, it’s the opposite, in this case. Creatives inspire creatives so, trying another hobby like painting, dancing, etc can help inspire some new ideas in you as well.
Tip #3: Read
If you’re someone like me, you always push reading to the side (I know it’s bad, I’m trying to get better). However, reading is something you should not put off. Reading at least 10 minutes is good for your overall mental growth. Sometimes, reading something in a book can help inspire a new idea in you.

Tip #4: Take a Break
Sometimes, the best way to get out of a creative rut is to walk away from the task itself. We see this with YouTubers all time who tend to take breaks from making videos. The breaks help them deal with burnout and refocus themselves. Then they come back with even better videos. This works in every creative field. So, if you’re a blogger, influencer, painter, etc- you just need to take a break from your work and refresh your mind.
Tip #5: Reminders
This should go without saying but you need to take a moment and remind yourself why you started what you’re doing in the first place. For example, in terms of being a blogger, lots of bloggers experience burnout. As a blogger, you need to remind yourself why you started blogging. Oftentimes, getting back to those beginning moments help inspire new ideas in us.
Those are my top five tips on how to get out of a creative rut. These are tried and tested tips by no other than yours truly and the work! Which tips was one you haven’t heard of before? Let me know in the comments below!
