Over the past few years of my blogging journey, I have always been asked the question- why do I love to blog? All my friends and family know about my blog and visit it quite often to show their support. So, they always ask me what’s the purpose or why I keep going with the blog. If you look back, I haven’t missed many weeks except when I want to take some me-time.
Anyway, I’ve thought long and hard about the answer to this question and it never comes to me. There are many reasons why I enjoy my blog and what I do with it. But I didn’t know the reason why I loved to blog until I had to think about it. So, I thought I’d write a blog post about it and share it with my KMD family.
Without further ado, check out my top five reasons why I love to blog.
Building a Community
One of the main reasons that I love blogging is because of the community that you gain. Living in Memphis, TN, we have a small yet close blogging community. When I first started blogging, back in 2018, I was shocked by the amazing blogging community that Memphis, TN had to offer.
All the Memphis creatives support each other and collab with one another. When the pandemic first got announced, the Memphis bloggers and I got together and collaborated with St. Jude to raise awareness for our Health Care workers. We got about 30 bloggers together to complete a campaign for St. Jude (fun fact: St. Jude headquarters is in Memphis, TN). I haven’t seen such a blogging community before and I’m proud to be a part of it. See pictures from the Memphis Bloggers collaboration with St. Jude for their #StayHomeForStJude campaign.

Collaborating and Working with Brands
I would be lying if I said that I didn’t enjoy collaborating and working with brands. Working with brands is the fun part of blogging, for me. I know most people who start blogging want to get the free stuff. However, for me, coming from a corporate background, I wanted to learn the ins and outs of the influencer/brand world. It was more of a learning experience for me.
I enjoy working with brands, sharing my concepts and ideas for a campaign, and having that idea come to life. I also love it when brands compliment my work and want to continue to work with me. I’ve built good relationships with certain brands and hope to continue to build relationships with many others.

Improving my writing skills
When I started blogging, I knew that I wasn’t the best writer in town. During my schooling/college days, I would always go to the “Writing lab” to have my essays proofread to make sure that my grammar, context, etc was proper. I had always struggled to put my thoughts to paper.
Over time, I have improved, and I am continuing to improve my writing skills. When I compare my recent blog posts to my first blog post, I notice a huge difference in my writing. As much as I want to cringe looking back at my first blog post, I’m glad I didn’t delete it as I have it to refer to and see my progress as a blogger and a writer.
Motivates me to Accomplish my Goals
Each year, I set attainable goals for my blog and some of my social media channels. Having this blog, and keeping it consistent, helps me attain those yearly goals. For instance, last year, I wanted to increase my blog views by 1K views at the end of the year. Low and behold, I accomplished that goal by September 2021, and by the end of the year, I had increased my yearly blog views by 2000 views. That was 1000 views more than my goal!
In addition, for this year, I wanted to get to 10K followers on my Instagram. I know that the follower count doesn’t matter but for me, it was a personal goal that I just wanted to accomplish. I had finally reached that goal in March of this year and was super excited!
Having these attainable goals helps me stay focused on my blog to obtain these goals. I enjoy having milestone moments to accomplish because that keeps me motivated.

Think Creatively
Saving the best for last as thinking creatively might be my favorite thing about blogging. I love coming up with unique and fun topics to write about. As mentioned above, I have been blogging for over 3 years now, and coming up with blog topics can become boring after a while. I like to come up with different topics so that it keeps my readers interested in coming back. Instead of writing posts such as, “my favorite fall items”, every year, I’ll switch up the blog post topics to fall lip colors or fall booties.
Don’t get me wrong, I will still try to do a fall trends post each year, but I like to sprinkle in some other fun posts. For example, last weeks’ post about Meal Prepping was not something that I usually blog about. However, my friends and family have been asking me about my meal prepping tips for years and I thought I would do a blog post about it. Little did I know how much my readers would love it! I allowed my creativity to shine with that blog post and I’m glad I did. All in all, getting to be creative with blog topics and pictures is another reason why I love to blog.
And that is the end of my top reasons why I love to blog. I hope you enjoyed the reasons that I have provided. Blogger friends: what’s your favorite reason to blog? Readers: what do you enjoy most about reading others’ blog posts? Let me know in the comments below!

I love blogging because it gives me an excuse to write about anything related to my parenting journey, and also to connect with fellow bloggers. I also enjoy researching about different topics to write about. It sounds like your experience has been great. Congratulations and thanks for sharing!
